This dataset represents township boundaries of the Public Land Survey System, the largest division of the rectangular survey hierarchy. Each township is approximately 6 miles square and is identified by its township and range designation relative to a principal meridian. This is a lighter-weight alternative to the full PLSS All Boundaries overlay, optimized for viewing township-level boundaries without section detail.
